Custom Website Development
By "Custom Website" I mean one that requires considerable analysis beyond a few simple data tables. Such websites usually involve complex email management systems, photo uploading systems, ecommerce, and so on. For example AdventurePages.com and Bivouac.com.

What we specialize in is plain, simple database systems, with a lot of well tested standard features. The basic technology is to have a login system which allows users to update all the content via easy to use forms. To go with this we have standardized statistics and audit systems that come at a very low cost. We are continuously improving these systems.

We are not in the "programmers for hire" contracting business. What we sell is solutions, not programming services. Anything we tackle comes out looking very simple and plain, such as AdventurePages.com or the Bluesoft website itself. We are not the people to talk to if your priority is flash graphics. Our most sucessful projects have been ones where the customer had certain overall business requirements, and left us to design and build an ppropriate solution. Below is an example of an ideal request:

I have 100 products and I want some sort of catalog that displays them along with pictures and technical information. I want my staff to be able to insert new products and update product information directly without having to go through a webmaster. I am familar with the update forms in AdventurePages.com or Bivouac.com and I think some sort of system like that would do the job for my catalog. "

To build a simple catalog website as specified above would cost about $2000.00. We need a $250 payment to cover the cost of talking to you and coming up with a design proposal. We will then build the system. When the system is more or less working, we have an "acceptance" point where you decide if its really going to work for you or not. You can back out and only pay 1/3 of the costs. If you accept, you pay the costs thus far, and we will put the finishing touches on it with the remaining budget. Our rate is $70/hour.

Just for comparison, below is a request that we WOULD NOT want to attempt, because we don't agree with the approach:

My competitors have flashy websites, and so we want one that is even flashier. I think graphics give a website a real "professional" look, and first impression is everything. I don't care if it takes 30 seconds for the front page to come up, and another 15 minutes of hard study to find any useful information, the important thing is to dazzle the reader with graphics and small print. Also I don't care about compatibility with multiple browsers, plain HTML is too simple.
