Email Settings
These instructions describe the settings you'll need to connect to the Bluesoft mail server (mail.bluesoft.ca). The instructions are generic, for specific instructions for Eudora, Netscape or Microsoft Outlook, see separate pages.

Here is the information any email client needs:

  1. The POP server from which to pick up INCOMING mail: (mail.bluesoft.ca).
  2. The name of the server to which to send OUTGOING mail. This will depend on what company provides your internet connection. For example, if you connect to the internet via an ADSL line from Telus, you would use their server. Because of security reasons, you cannot normally send OUTBOUND mail thru our serve "mail.bluesoft.ca."
  3. The name of your POP MAIL ACCOUNT. We standardize the names of the pop mail accounts to be your first name followed by the first letter of your last name. For example, RobinT.
  4. Your return email address. (JoeS@abc.com).

Differences in Email Clients The above four pieces of information must be provided to any email client. However, one thing that is confusing is that certain fields are combined in Eudora, but separate in Netscape. Specifically, in Netscape, the Mail Server and Pop Account are two separate fields. However Eudora combines both the account name and the Pop Server into one field called "Pop Account" (JoeS@mail.bluesoft.ca).

See also the separate page of instructions which I wrote describing detailed configuration and setup of Eudora.
